Pol Pot Pandian writes to the Editor-in-Chief,The Hindu

Respected Editor,

While the entire bourgeoisie media with deeply entrenched links to the imperialist powers is sparing no efforts to indulge in malicious propaganda against the permanent government of People’s Republic of China for its alleged ‘repression’ in Tibet, I sincerely appreciate your newspaper’s earnest efforts not to fall victim to this concerted campaign of calumny

The coverage of Tibet episode has enhanced my long-standing respect for your newspaper and in my humble opinion clearly exemplifies the newspaper’s exemplary commitment to progressive democratic values and commendable commitment to highlight the voice of the marginalized and emasculated proletariat whose very existence has been under ruthless assault by neo-liberal forces

It was with great sense of shock and despair that I read the diary of the hapless, distraught visitor who was an eyewitness to the recent ‘violence’ in Tibet in today's edition. It was quite illuminating as it clearly exposes the Tibetan monks for what they are, religious fanatics in the guise of saffron robes. As relentless crusaders against Hindu fascism, the violent unleashed in Tibet comes as no surprise to the progressive, secular and democratic forces .The rioting hooligans in Lhasa essentially derive their ideological sustenance from the same set of ‘Dharmic’ ethos that drove the marauding mobs in Gujarat to kill over 10,000 Muslims

The entire Dalai Lama movement is a spurious pseudo spiritual movement that is bankrolled by business interests in the west who view People’s Republic of China as an emerging threat. By ‘intelligently’ co-opting charismatic figures from popular culture and influential voices from the intelligentsia, English speaking Dalai Lama has managed to provide a façade of respectability to the movement and successfully managed to camouflage its nakedly violent designs

People’s Republic of China is a shinning example of open, tolerant multi ethnic society with Majority Hans living in perfect harmony with religious minorities .By systematically planning and deliberately targeting Muslim minorties in Lhasa, the murderous monks have clearly proved that they want to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Tibet prevailing under the enlightened rule of Permanent government of People’s Republic of China. Its no coincidence that this ‘riots’ happens just few months before China is about to demonstrate to the world through the Beijing games that economic, social and cultural progress can be achieved without resorting to neo-liberal economic policies

I hope that the permanent government of People’s Republic of China under the inspiring leadership of Hu Xintao is no distracted by this bogus bourgeoisie calls for ‘democracy’ and ‘human rights’ and continue in its march following the path laid out by great visionaries like Mao

The UPA government also deserves kudos for adroitly handling the situation. The influence of progressive, secular and democratic forces in this government has really helped it not succumbing to the designs of representatives of reactionary forces who disrupted the parliament demanding official ‘condemnation’

I am sure that your newspaper and its fearless correspondent in Beijing Ms Aiyar will continue this balanced and objective coverage of China

I wish to conclude by saying that your newspaper richly deserves its tag as “India’s National Newspaper”.

Well written post! I am frankly surprised by the brazenness of his one-sidedness. Does N.Ram believe that people are such utter fools who can be taken in in the internet age?

Even B.Raman has called it the "People's daily" Chennai in his blog and lamented its steady decline to the point of publishing Xinhua propoganda verbatim.

Awesome post. brilliantly written. I'm tired of the meek statements and platitudes that the Govt seeks to bestow on the Tibet issue.

Hi Prasanna,

I'd love to read this post and understand what you're trying to say, but honestly I find this post so abstruse that I'm no longer interested in reading it.

At the risk of sounding like a person who doesn't understand English, I'd have to say that your words are so loud they're drowning out your thoughts/views.

And I'm tempted to ask for a translation into regular English :-(

Thanks!
